About Us

As they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention”. Suffering from neck, shoulder and back pain from playing guitar, I set out to discover a guitar strap that would reduce the shoulder weight of my instruments in hopes it would reduce or relieve the "Guitar Shoulder" symptoms I was experiencing. I didn’t want to give up playing, but the pain and numbing from hanging a 8+ pound guitar over my shoulder with a standard leather, nylon or padded guitar strap were becoming unbearable.

After endless internet searches and conversations with my local guitar shops, it became obvious that there was nothing on the market that would help me accomplish my goal. It was clear that the only way I was going to continue with my passion was to design a custom guitar strap that would help me relieve my pain.

While shopping for strap parts at the local guitar stores and explaining what I was designing, I soon discovered many players were also experiencing shoulder pain from playing guitar or bass. To my surprise, many of them wanted a strap for themselves once my design was complete, to help them relieve their guitar shoulder and related symptoms. The old recommended solution to "raise the guitar up" wasn't working for any of us.

Through trial and error, I discovered 3 new ways to displace a portion or the entire weight of my guitar and bass to my hips. As I completed the designs, I had a number of players try them out to get their feedback on how these new guitar straps performed. It turns out they worked! Players instantly experienced relief from lightening the load on their shoulder. Practicing, rehearsing and gigging suddenly became more bearable. Based on those results and the number of requests I had for straps, I decided to open Slinger Straps.

Today the Slinger “Hip Strap", "Acoustic Hip Strap", “Sling Strap” and “Harness Straps” are available to everyone. Our primary goal is to help players prevent, reduce or remove the pain and discomfort caused from strapping heavy guitars and basses over one spot on their shoulder for extended periods of time. Even players with no pain should consider the benefits of these ergonomic guitar straps to help avoid future “Guitar Shoulder” and/or related compression symptoms. For players who just can't break away from a traditional guitar strap, try our Hi-Tension "Comfort Stretch" elastic guitar strap to help ease the pressure on your shoulder.

Experience a whole new level of comfort and endurance with a Slinger Strap and "Take the Pain Out of Playing".
